Given the centrality of work in peoples’ lives it is true to say that life at work and life are in intrinsically linked. Our experience of life at work mirrors our experience of life in general. For a disappointing number of people, irrespective of the work that they do, the experience is not positive. Work is not a source of motivation, fulfillment, joy and growth but it’s opposite. Organisations moreover are experienced by those who ‘live’ in them as increasingly inhumane and toxic. At an extreme that “it is killing me to work here”.
Legitimate Leadership believes that one’s experience of life at work is primarily a function of a person’s maturity and personal mastery as a human being. An individual’s life at work is transformed only when they are transformed as a human being.
We enable personal maturity in individuals, who are key to the transformation of the organisation by doing the following:

Personal Excellence Workshops
What the Legitimate Leadership model clarifies for those in leadership positions in organisations is that they don’t have to do anything to their people to motivate them so much as they have to become the kind of person that people are motivated by. The issue of leadership excellence and personal excellence is therefore one issue, not two.
This is because there is an inextricable link between an individual’s personal maturity as a human being and the successful leadership of others. To truly care and grow people, in other words, requires a remarkable degree of maturity and personal mastery by the person doing the caring and growing.
Legitimate leadership provides Personal Excellence workshops (a series of 5 one day workshops) aimed at the key individuals in client organisations whose personal transformation is imperative for the successful transformation of the enterprise.
Legitimate Leadership assists individuals in client organisations to further their personal excellence, post its personal excellence workshops, by providing a mentoring service to them.

The aim of the Personal Excellence workshops therefore is to develop personal mastery, to grow as a human being. At the core of the workshop is an assumption that there is a critical variable which accounts for success as a human being which is intent. The workshop therefore provides a framework for participants to explore and develop their own intent. As such it is an examination of the key elements of personal excellence which are necessary for success both in terms of leading others and personal growth and fulfilment.
The workshops are aimed at key individuals in client organisations whose personal transformation is imperative for the successful transformation of the enterprise. It is run over a number of months as a series of two day or one day sessions.
Change Excellence Workshops
Change is endemic in today’s world. That being the case, success both at work and more generally in life, requires the ability to positively deal with and respond to change. That ability has everything to do with our intent, with what we make important to ourselves and what we give attention to.
Legitimate leadership enables people’s resilience and adaptability to change in client organisations through its Change Excellence workshops. Specifically we assist those in leadership positions to both deal with change themselves and assist their people to do so.
Change Excellence Workshops
As human beings we have always experienced change and have found ways to deal with it. The magnitude, speed and constancy of today’s changes however are unprecedented. In today’s world we now live in times of catastrophic change.
Whether or not as people we succeed in these times of uncertainty has everything to do with our intent, with what we choose to make significant to ourselves and consequently what we give attention to.
In any situation which confronts us there are really only two variables at play, what we want to “get” and what we want to “give”. Of the two the one we have control over is what we give, what sits in our hands. The more we focus our attention on what we give or contribute, the stronger and more powerful we become.
In this workshop Legitimate Leadership provides original, simple but powerful tools and frameworks for dealing with and responding to change.
The change issues which are dealt with are those currently confronting the participants in the workshop. The workshop is therefore particularly useful for people whose organisations are making difficult changes which impact on them such as a merger, a takeover, downsizing, decline in profits, exponential growth, the implementation of a major system, or the introduction of new technologies.
Leaders in change situations have a dual responsibility: to model dealing with change and to assist their people to adapt positively to change.
